Book Review - The Shiver Trilogy

I am a huge book worm. I have been ever since I was a little girl and it's one of my favorite ways to relax. Since I love reading so much, I thought it would be nice to share some of my favorite books with you from time to time.

The Wolves of Mercy Falls (Shiver Trilogy)
by Maggie Stiefvator

SYNOPSIS FOR SHIVER (BOOK 1)

For years, Grace has watched the wolves in the woods behind her house. One yellow-eyed wolf—her wolf—is a chilling presence she can’t seem to live without.
Meanwhile, Sam has lived two lives: In winter, the frozen woods, the protection of the pack, and the silent company of a fearless girl. In summer, a few precious months of being human… until the cold makes him shift back again.
Now, Grace meets a yellow-eyed boy whose familiarity takes her breath away. It’s her wolf. It has to be. But as winter nears, Sam must fight to stay human—or risk losing himself, and Grace, forever.

Okay so these books are about a boy who turns into a wolf during the winter, Sam and a girl, Grace, he's watched grow up. Once they finally meet, they fall in love and they're trying to figure out how to keep Sam from changing into a wolf so they can be together. They're full of romance, action and adventure and I'm a sucker for any type of romance book, especially fantasy ones!

I think these are absolutely amazing. They are all very easy reads and even great for beginners. All of the chapters are quite short, which I really like since I hate stopping on a random page. I'm the type of person that likes to squeeze in one last chapter before bed, and it's very doable with these books.

The pace of these books is quite slow. It does takes a while for the story to pick up, especially in the second book. But once it does, it's a great read! The writing style of Maggie is a little strange and hard to get used to. Each chapter is written in the perspective of a main character, very similar to the Pretty Little Liars books. In the first book, it's just Grace and Sam, while the second and third incorporate more characters.  After a little while, I actually quite enjoyed the way they were written! It was nice hearing what each character was actually thinking and not just focusing on one throughout the entire novel.

This is one of my favorite fantasy book series. If you're a fan of fantasy and romance books, you definitely need to put them on your book list.
